Racquel joined the Eyewitness News Team in December 2011 after spending the last 6 years at two Upstate New York television stations. She also completed her Masters in Broadcast Journalism at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Racquel currently works for Eyewitness News Daybreak and TV27 bringing you your traffic reports every morning. It is important for her to get you to work on time or out of town if you're hitting the road for a big trip.
Aside from Daybreak Traffic duties, Racquel also reports on all the major transportation or road construction news, including SunRail, the expansion of I-4 and changes at Orlando International Airport. Most importantly, she reports on any problems you face on your neighborhoods roads.
Before coming to WFTV, Racquel was a reporter and anchor at WSYR in Syracuse, NY and at WICZ in Binghamton, NY. Upstate New York gave Racquel her fair share of live reports atop snow mounds while the blistering wind created whiteout conditions. The summers were just as eventful with two historic floods and Hurricane Irene in 2011. Let's just say she already has her rain gear for when the rough weather comes through Central Florida.
While in Syracuse, Racquel was also honored by the NYS Associated Press and Syracuse Press Club recognized for reporting on the use and legality of synthetic drugs bought over the Internet and sold on the street. She discovered how Central New York High School students were using the drugs and why law enforcement could not arrest dealers.
When she’s not working a story, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two playful Yorkies at the dog park.
